Each situation has a different solution. A forgotten combination on a dial-and-lever safe is often manipulated open non-destructively in 20 to 90 minutes. A dead keypad battery is usually a 5-minute fix with an external 9-volt.

Safe calls are almost always stressful because something is locked inside that matters. Most situations have a non-destructive answer.
The usual safe emergencies
- You forgot the combination to a Sentry home safe with family documents inside. We manipulate open in 30 to 60 minutes without damaging the safe.
- Your AMSEC BF gun safe keypad is dead and the battery replacement didn't help. We replace the electronic lock with a matching unit and reprogram.
- A Liberty gun safe handle was forced and the boltwork is jammed. We use a scope through the relocker hole to reset and open.
- You inherited a grandparent's Mosler floor safe and nobody has the combination. Manipulation or override opens most without drilling.
- A commercial depository safe in your restaurant has a stuck drop slot. Full disassembly and boltwork repair same day.
- You need a fireproof safe installed in a Palm City new build and anchored to the concrete slab. Install, level, and bolt in 90 minutes.
- A 700-lb gun safe needs to move from Vero Beach to Stuart. We handle transport including stair work and re-anchoring at the destination.

How safe work actually happens
Safe locksmith work splits into two disciplines: manipulation and service. Safe manipulation is the art of opening a combination safe without the combination and without drilling. It relies on the mechanical tolerances of the lever-and-wheel mechanism. A skilled safe technician listens (or feels) for contact points between the drive cam, the lever nose, and the wheel gates, then works out the combination dial position for each wheel.
On a Group 2 lock this takes 20 to 90 minutes of focused work. On a higher-security Group 1 or Group 1R lock, manipulation can take hours or be impossible, and drilling with a borescope through a non-critical path is the fallback.
Electronic safe locks (S&G 6120, La Gard Basic, Kaba Mas X-09, AMSEC ESL10, AMSEC ESL20) have their own failure modes. Keypads die, solenoids stick, and batteries corrode. Most electronic lock failures are resolved by replacing the keypad, the battery pack, or the entire lock module.
We carry replacement modules for the major brands and most can be swapped in 30 to 60 minutes.
Safe installation matters more than most owners realize. A 250-lb residential safe with no anchoring can be carried out during a burglary; anchoring it to a concrete slab raises the attack time tenfold. We bolt safes to slabs using 1/2 inch concrete anchors through the factory-drilled holes.
For wood subfloor we use lag bolts into framing. For upper-floor installs we verify floor load before placement.
Moving a safe is physical work. A 600-lb gun safe needs appliance dollies, ratchet straps, and a stair climber for any elevation. A commercial 1,500-lb depository safe needs an actual crew and sometimes a pallet jack or liftgate truck.

Safe owner tips
- Write the combination down and store it separately from the safe - with a trusted person or in a bank deposit box.
- Replace the electronic keypad battery annually, even if it still works. A dead battery at the wrong moment is the most common safe call we get.
- Anchor every safe under 750 lbs. Unanchored safes walk out during a burglary.
- Gun safes belong against interior walls, not exterior. Exterior walls are thinner and easier to breach around the safe.
- Change the combination after any change in household access (divorce, move, employee turnover for business safes).
- For fireproof safes, keep documents in a second waterproof container inside the safe. Fire ratings don't cover water damage from firefighting.

Can you open my safe without damaging it?
Most of the time, yes. We use manipulation, override, and scope techniques first. For Group 2 combination locks (most home and gun safes), non-destructive opening works in the vast majority of cases.
Drilling is a last resort and always through a repairable path.
How long does safe opening take?
Home combination safes: 20 to 90 minutes for manipulation. Electronic safes with dead batteries: 5 to 30 minutes. Gun safes with damaged boltwork: 60 to 120 minutes.
Commercial Group 1 safes and heavy-duty vaults can take longer and are quoted after assessment.
Do you install home safes?
Yes. We deliver, level, and anchor home safes to concrete slabs or framing. Installation includes anchoring hardware, level verification, operation test, and combination reset if needed.
Most home safe installs take 30 to 90 minutes onsite.
Can you change the combination on my safe?
Yes. For mechanical dial combinations we do this by removing the cover of the combination lock and resetting the wheels with a change key. For electronic locks we reprogram through the keypad.
Most combination changes take 15 to 30 minutes.
Do you move safes?
Yes. We move safes up to 2,000 lbs across the Treasure Coast. Small safes (under 300 lbs) are dolly jobs.
Medium safes (300-800 lbs) need appliance dollies and stair climbers. Large safes need a crew and sometimes a liftgate truck. We quote after assessing weight and route.
What if my electronic safe keypad is dead?
First we try the external battery override. Most electronic safes have a 9-volt external contact that can power the lock. If that fails we replace the keypad module.
If the solenoid itself has failed we replace the full electronic lock. All three scenarios we can handle onsite.
Can you open a fireproof safe?
Yes. Sentry, First Alert, and Honeywell fireproof safes are standard work for us. Most have mechanical combination or electronic keypad locks that can be opened non-destructively.
We also open fireproof safes with damaged bolt works from fire or impact.
Do you service gun safes?
Yes. Liberty, Fort Knox, Browning, Cannon, Stack-On, AMSEC BF, and Winchester gun safes are all in our standard scope. We open them when locked out, replace electronic keypads that fail, repair damaged handles and boltwork, and anchor to the floor.
What brands of electronic safe locks do you replace?
