Switchblade keys use a spring-loaded mechanism to deploy the mechanical key blade from inside the fob housing. Press the release button and the blade flips out, ready to insert into the ignition cylinder. Push the blade back into the housing to fold it away.
The spring mechanism is the main failure point on switchblade keys. After thousands of uses, the spring can weaken or break, causing the blade to flop out or fail to deploy. When this happens, the fob housing needs replacement (usually with chip transfer from the old unit).

Sometimes, if your vehicle supports the switchblade profile and you prefer the design. We verify compatibility before committing. More common to replace a damaged switchblade with a new switchblade of the same type.
